Code of Conduct (coc).

EUPD Group, as part of the HRCG Group, has long been committed to corporate environmental, social and economic responsibility and believes that sustainability is also a key success factor for all of the HRCG Group’s own business units – hereinafter referred to as HRCG. The EUPD Group is also keen to work with companies that adopt social and environmental practices in line with international standards. For this reason, the EUPD Group requires all its suppliers and subcontractors to comply with all national, European and international rules applicable to them in terms of ethical and responsible standards of conduct.

This applies in particular to fundamental principles such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the conventions of the International Labor Organization (even if these have not been ratified by all countries, especially with regard to the prohibition of child labor and forced or compulsory labor), the OECD Guidelines (especially on anti-corruption) and commitments to which EUPD is a signatory, such as the United Nations Global Compact.

Inquiries regarding compliance with this Code of Conduct will be answered centrally by contacting CoC@hrcg.eu.
Solar lights

The Solar Lights for Africa Initiative

The Solar Lights for Africa program was inspired by the safety, security, educational empowerment, and environmental sustainability that light brings.

In Africa, addressing the issue of providing light to the cities’ most at-risk communities underscores the urgent need for creative lighting solutions. The provision of public lighting through high mast area lights and traditional street lamps encounters considerable challenges, particularly in informal settlements. Many of these locales, devoid of grid-connected electrical infrastructure, are left in darkness and cannot be electrified, thus becoming hotbeds for criminal activities due to the lack of sufficient lighting. Additionally, providing sustainable solar lighting solutions significantly reduces CO2 emissions and environmental degradation, making it an essential component for combating climate change and promoting ecological balance.

Although high mast lighting is beneficial to electrified communities, its utility is diminished by logistical problems such as restricted areas for installation, difficulties in maintenance, and the emergence of shadowy areas as new structures are built. This predicament highlights the critical need for novel public lighting approaches that leverage renewable and off-grid power solutions to improve safety and visibility in all areas, regardless of their grid connectivity. Adopting such strategies would not only address current safety concerns but also contribute to creating a more inclusive and secure environment for the people of Africa.
